The Impact of Employee Evaluation on Increasing Loyalty

To increase company productivity, one way is to recruit the right employees. However, in reality, a company often finds it difficult to maintain employee loyalty. This can be triggered by uncertainty that makes employees confused about their roles, responsibilities and company expectations.

Expecting employees to carry out work at a certain level requires special management. That doesn't mean that you can't do it. So, how and what can you do to increase employee loyalty?

1. Increase employee loyalty with evaluation

There are many impacts of reduced employee loyalty on the company. However, by conducting evaluations, you can increase employee productivity and loyalty. Because evaluation can increase employee commitment and enthusiasm. To carry out an evaluation, here are several ways you can do it.

2. Tell the company expectations

When employees start working with you, tell them the roles and responsibilities of the position. This is done because there is a possibility that you and your employees have different understandings. Moreover, new employees still have to adapt to the new work environment.

Every position requires a work plan. Therefore, make a list of job duties, and other quantitative things related to roles and responsibilities. For example, if you work as a receptionist, one of the tasks you have to do is answer telephone calls on the third ring.

For positions with tasks that cannot be measured, it is a good idea to explain employee expectations as specifically as possible, either verbally or in writing. This is done to avoid confusion and misunderstandings later. When employees understand their roles and responsibilities, they will know what they can provide to the company.

3. Communicate company values ​​regularly

It's important for employees to keep company expectations in mind. For this reason, you can remind employees about their performance developments. When expectations are met, employee appreciation and motivation will appear by itself. These things will be an encouragement for employees to remain productive.

If problems arise, provide details to employees and explain how to resolve them. If an employee's behavior or performance has serious deficiencies, document your discussion. This is done to create informal archives which can later become learning records.

In some cases, when discussing poor performance, a report is required to be written and then signed by you and the employee concerned. After that, the records will be stored in the company archives.

4. Give a job assessment

Providing detailed company expectations to an employee is meaningless without a written assessment. At short intervals, such as every three months, new employees should receive reports on their performance. Meanwhile, existing workers must be reviewed every year.

You must always update employees on their performance. If you don't tell them, employees will think that they have met the company's expectations. Therefore, tell your employees all their work progress.

When conducting an assessment, if you find an employee who needs improvement, use your formal and informal documentation. This documentation will serve as a note and review when you encounter a similar problem later.

5. Follow-up and evaluation

When the company's expectations for employees have been conveyed, make sure that you answer questions and provide them with encouragement. For the progress of your employees, determine the goals you want to achieve. Also write down the ways you will ensure that employees get improvements.

Meanwhile, before conducting a review of employees who work below the company's expectations, it is a good idea to give them a certain period of time. This is done so that employees can make efforts to meet their job expectations.

It is important to remember that a supportive and harmonious environment greatly influences employee performance. Therefore, always make sure that the company cares about the development of its employees. That way, there will be commitment and a high sense of loyalty among employees.

Employee loyalty is very important for the company. When employees have motivation and purpose in working, their expectations for work will also increase. Therefore, although complicated, employee loyalty can provide great benefits to the company.
