Changes in business innovation also affect the way of leadership. Today innovative leaders occupy an important role in the success of the company. Executives, managers, or entrepreneurs who are responsible for the initial idea, marketing, and delivering new ideas to the company.

Innovative leadership is essential in today's marketplace. Because they are a vital part of the business. It can even be said that business continuity is in the hands of a leader.

In order to stay abreast of the competitive business market, companies need to adopt new methods and ways of doing business things. The trick is to take a structured approach, so that leaders can continue to grow.

The challenge of a leader today

In order to understand the meaning of innovative leadership, it is necessary to understand that this leadership concept is something new so that its presence helps develop brand originality. The shift from traditional to innovative leadership also has various challenges.

Not to mention because of the pandemic which has also changed the business and approach of leaders. You may experience changes at work. For example, there is a push to add Gen Z to the team and work in a hybrid or remote manner, the effectiveness of which is still being debated.

In order not to be left behind and keep abreast of changes, pay attention to your leadership framework. Maybe it's time for you to update it. To be clearer, here's a framework that you can apply to become an innovative leader:

1. Be open with others

Innovative leaders will use all their abilities to achieve success together. They will present as a person who can be trusted and responsible. However, do not miss. The leader's task is no less important, namely to guide the team and even yourself.

As a leader you will depend on each other, so you will work with many parties. Starting from small parts to the biggest in the company, such as stakeholders. Seeing as the context that you have is very broad, understanding that you have to align all the elements is very important.

When a leader can fulfill all of these aspects, it means that you have used the skills you have as well as possible. This can lead to long term success.

2. Understand the team and the goals

Innovation is often misunderstood as creativity, design, invention and change. Whereas innovation only refers to three things, namely mindset, process, and results. Meanwhile, in terms of outcomes, innovation is expected to produce new marketing, process and product innovations. As a unitary process, it implies that several steps must be followed in an organized manner. In this way, the final goal can be achieved.

When innovation occurs, efforts are usually made to keep up with these changes by changing the system and employee behavior. This is not impossible, but change takes time. Here you have to continuously attend and adjust the company's vital elements.

Outside the internal organizational context, when setting strategy and making decisions, you must evaluate stakeholders such as partners, industry, geopolitical environment, and the larger global economy.

3. Know your abilities

Becoming a great leader starts from a strong framework. Including by knowing yourself. When you know yourself better, you will know your strengths and weaknesses as a person and as a leader. However, do not stay silent. Use this knowledge to make your plans and goals.

After that, communicate this by sharing your thoughts with people around you. That way, you can inspire people. Don't hesitate to communicate this with stakeholders. If they have one opinion, you can even enlist their support. That way, you will build relationships and confidence.

Not only the methods mentioned above, online classes can be an option to build deep awareness, respect and concern for oneself. This allows for the emergence of leadership skills that are optimistic and can always be trusted.
